San Diego is the second largest city of California in United States of America and also the city is ranked as the ninth largest in all of the United States. It is located on the west coast side of the country. Approximate population of the city is about 1,279,329. According to 2008 facts and figures the city is also considered as the city having the 17th largest metropolitan area which comprises of 3,001,072 residents. San Diegos most important industries include tourism, military and manufacturing. The industries contribute heavily to the economy of the city; as a result San Diego is ranked among the cities having a powerful economy. San Diego is basically surrounded by hilly mountains thus making it a hill station as well. San Diego has a very warm and dry climate during summers. The city mostly enjoys the rainfall during winter season. Mostly the temperature remains above 20 degrees but has never surpassed the 25 degrees mark. The weather during summers is very dry and a little bit humid as well. The months of summer season are May till October. Winter arrives in November and lasts until April. Rainfall is in abundance in winter season and due to this factor the winters are sometimes also referred to the rainy period. Temperature ranges in between 15- 20 degrees in winters. Winters are also of mild nature and not very chilly.
Economically San Diego is a very strong city. The city mostly generates its revenue and raises funds through its three major sources, military, manufacturing and tourism. San Diego also hosts headquarters of a number of biotechnical companies. Another important feature of San Diego is that the city is considered as home to companies which are developers of wireless cellular technologies. Among all these industries, San Diego is regarded as one of the most important and most visited destinations for tourists from all around the world. The major attractions of the city are its beautiful mild natured climate and also place like San Diego Zoo, the world famous Balboa Park. The city is also famous for its beaches and golf clubs. The tourism department of the city contributes heavily in the economy of San Diego itself.
San Diego also has a very historical culture, which can be easily seen and studied in the beautifully built and maintained museums. The city of San Diego is home to some of the world class museums which receive heavy amounts of tourists throughout the year. Among these museums some of the most notable ones are San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum, and the one which is mostly visited because of the reason that it is located inside the Balboa Park is named as Museum of Photographic Arts.
